A Medical Visa to India is issued to those who are travelling to India for medical treatment in reputed / recognized specialized hospitals / treatment centers in India.

Up to two attendants who are blood relatives are allowed to accompany the applicant under Medical Attendant visas, and the Medical Attendant visa will have the same validity as the Medical visa to India.

The list of ailments that are covered under a Medical Visa to India include neuro-surgery, ophthalmic disorders, heart-related problems, renal disorders, organ transplantation, congenital disorders, gene-therapy, radio-therapy, plastic surgery, joint replacement, etc.

The initial duration of a Medical Visa to India is up to a year or the period of the treatment, whichever is less. The visa will be valid for a maximum of 3 entries during that year.

a. The Embassy / Consulates reserve the right to seek additional documentation at their discretion.

b. Applicants must carefully review the time period of visa that they seek and must note and understand that Visa is not a matter of right and hence the Embassy / Consulates could deny the visa if not found eligible / or does not have adequate supporting documentation or grant a visa for a period lesser than what has been requested in the application and what the applicant has paid for. There shall be no clarifications or enquiries in this regard and the decision of the Consulate will be final and binding.
